Dear community In the following blog posts, we'll tell you about our adventurous journey through the land of kola nuts. The country in which Vivi Kola bought its caffeinated core over 80 years ago. The country that is deeply rooted in the history of Vivi Kola. CAMEROON.
Legend has it that the “mannae” from the Eglisau mineral spring traveled by ship to Cameroon in 1938. Their goal was to import the African kola nut to Switzerland to complete the first Vivi Kola recipe.
This February, five brave Vivi Kola employees set off for Cameroon again. The mission of this trip was to discover the origin of the wild kola nut and learn everything about the mysterious nut. Many kola drinkers do not know that this beautiful and meaningful nut originates from the deepest jungle in Africa.
In the form of a diary, which is divided into seven stages, we tell you about our experiences, our insights and emotions during a journey through wild and beautiful Cameroon.
First Vivi Kola label 1938
We would like to introduce you to the team “Expedition — Wild Kola Nuss” from today: Christian made Vivi Kola fizz again in 2010. Since he was a little boy, he has dreamt of seeing a real wild kola nut tree in the jungle. We hope this dream comes true for him soon.
Camilo, managing director of Vivi Kola, was already in Cameroon in 2019 and visited the Fairtrade project in Ebolowa, which is responsible for harvesting and transporting wild kola nuts to Switzerland. He is saddle-proof in French and will hopefully guide us through the jungles of Cameroon without major mishaps. Alexandra, event manager at Vivi Kola, has already traveled a few times. How do you think she'll stand up to the jungle? As the only female companion, she will certainly stand up to the boys without any problems. Fabian, our sales and marketing manager, has already heard several robbery stories about Central Africa. He is therefore terrified as hell of being bitten by the malaria mosquito. That is why he spent over an hour in the Transa shop advising him on the strongest mosquito repellent. Aaron works as a photographer and video producer at Vivi Kola. His latest gadgets include the Mavec Pro II drone. After initial flight training in Switzerland, we hope that it doesn't fly around his eyes on the first day. With a height of 2 meters, he's probably the quickest hit.
